Sensitive Habitat Inventory and Mapping

Sensitive Habitat Inventory and Mapping (SHIM)

Work Program Summary: Detailed Sensitive Habitat Inventory and Mapping (SHIM) has been carried out by Ecoscape on watercourses throughout the Okanagan Basin, totaling nearly 1000 km of streamline. SHIM is a GPS-GIS application, developed by Fisheries and Oceans Canada, for completing detailed fish and fish habitat inventories. As of 2011, Ecoscape staff have completed SHIM of all watercourses within the City of Kelowna municipal boundaries and for select areas in the Regional District Okanagan Similkameen, Regional District North Okanagan, City of Vernon, District of West Kelowna, and Regional District Central Okanagan.
